C set forthe by the Kynges maiestie and his clergye, and commaunded to be taught through out all his realme All other utterly set a part as the teachers thereof tender his graces favour' (London, William Powell, ?1547). Together with a copy of a letter from Henry Bradshaw to William Ford concerning this and other editions of the work, 1874. Sion L40.2/E86/1. A transcript of a printed work: 'The A. B. C. set forthe by the Kynges maiestie and his clergye, and commaunded to be taught through out all his realme All other utterly set a part as the teachers thereof tender his graces favour' (London, William Powell, ?1547). ESTC S11072. Transcribed from the copy in the British Library (Grenville Library 11686) in 1871 for William Ford, a solicitor of Gray's Inn. With a note by Ford: 'This copy was made by my stationer from the copy made by the clerks at the British museum of the copy in the Grenville Library. William Ford December 1873'. At f. 18 is a copy of the entry in the burial register of St. Dunstan in the West, London, recording the burial of William Powell in June 1574. Sion L40.2/E86/2. Contemporary copy of a letter from Henry Bradshaw (1831-1886), librarian and scholar, to William Ford (1812-1889), a solicitor of Gray's Inn and former President of the Law Society, setting out the results of his research concerning editions of 'The A. B. C. ...' published from c.1538 to 1631. King's College, Cambridge, 15 Jan. 1874.
