Description

Folios 106-107. Draft letter from the Local Government Board to Walter May Barton, Clerk to the Guardians of the Mitford and Launditch Poor Law Union in response to his letter dated 12 February 1885 which enclosed a schedule of the arrangements which the guardians propose for vaccination in the North Elmham district of the Mitford and Launditch Poor Law Union. They state that the proposed arrangements are not as he supposed, that is, identical with those in force under the contract with the late public vaccinator and moreover that they are not such as the Board can approve. The arrangements now altered in pencil, are those approved by Board on 28 August 1877 and the Board suggest that these arrangements should be adopted in the contract with the new public vaccinator. They return the schedule and request that once the new contract has been prepared and executed that it is sent for the Board's approval. Before however, the Board can approve a contract with Mr Mosley it will be necessary for him to obtain a special certificate of proficiency in vaccination from one of the persons authorised to grant such certificates for the purpose of the regulations 1 December 1859,Edward B Sinclair not having been so authorised. When Mr Mosley has produced the certificate, the Board must be furnished with the date and name of the person by whom it is signed.
