Demise of several closes, viz the orchard with a little close adj. called the Gill yard; 2 new inclosures called the Mill Hill and the Holly Greaves with one little parcel land being 2 butts called the Hemp butts and adj. to the Mill Hill, Gosiatt leasow, the Heath adj. Brocton feild, 3 closes called the Cow leasowes, the Forge meadow lying between a meadow called the Hall meadow (Daniel Adams and John Adams) (E) and a meadow of Mr. Weavers called the forge meadow (John Pitt) (W); Smalmer meadow; all which Slaney purchased of Hugh Tomkys; meadow late Humphrey Haslewoods called the Forge meadow or Mill Greene adj. Grindle forge; all in the town and feilds of Grindell in the parish of Ryton (John Pitt), reserving to Slaney 1 cottage and 2 small closes (Richard Eikin), all timber and other trees with liberty to fell, saw, or convert into cordwood and coales on the premises and make pits, take turf, raise dust etc. for the purpose, and finally remove; and reserving mines and minerals.
Rent £20. The lease to be void if the rent unpaid 14 days.
Covenant to pay rent, lewnes and taxes, to maintain hedges, ditches, mounds and fences, repair buildings, leave quietly at end of term, use on the premises all dung etc. produced.
Slaney is to have the right to stop and pound the water at the damn at Grindell forge "for the setting and continueing at worke the Forges and slitting Mill there", notwithstanding any damage that may be done to the demised premises. Covenant for quiet possession.
