R A Lister & Co. was formed in 1867 by Robert Ashton Lister (b.1845) of Dursley for the manufacture of agricultural implements and later dairy machinery. The firm was formed into a Limited Company in 1901. Robert Ashton Lister was knighted in 1911 for his record of public work; he died in December 1929.
