The Colston family of Oxfordshire and Roundway Park, Wilts. include Sophia Colston, great-niece and co-heir of Edward Colston, philanthropist and merchant of Bristol, (1636-1721) to whom much of the property listed here belonged, including his house in Small Street, Bristol in which his father William Colston entertained Charles I in September 1643. (see Dictionary of National Biography, pp.406-7)
