The Mayor, Aldermen and Citizens of Chester and several merchants of the said City debtors to the representatives of the late Mr. Edward Partington and Mr. Joseph Fluitt, 1741-44.
Apparently a case concerning the payment of tonnage, in which the Corporation and the merchants were involved.
Note: on 29 Jan. 1744, a petition was agreed to be presented to the House of Commons to obtain an Act for altering the tonnage duties as agreed between the parties and to suspend the proceedings in the cause. Costs divided between the Corporation and the merchants. 6ff
