NB: shot down 19-20 July 1940 in Hampden I, L4087 on mine-laying operations Frederikshaven. Took off, Waddington - hit by flak and crashed into the sea off Jutland. Green (aged 52) was acting as wireless-Operator/Gunner. Pilot (Sgt EL Farrands, also survived). Sgts PD Nixon and RT Miller died and are buried at Skagen Cem. Denmark. Held captive at Stalag Luft 3 - was one of the 75 officers who took part in The Great Escape in March 1944 as a result of which 50 were murdered by the SS.
