Description

Red cloth-covered 'Kodak' album, 209x167mm, containing snapshots inserted in window mounts. The majority are uncaptioned. The album formerly belonged to Mrs Beatrix Lonsdale (neé Blumfeld), daughter of Colonel J.L. Blumfeld, Commander of the 9th Bn the Middlesex Regiment which was in India in 1914-16. Brief biographical notes are provided in a letter from the donor, enclosed in the accompanying centenery brochure published by the regiment in 1959. The photographs are amateur views and portraits, including Srinagar, military camp scenes, NWFP, the Middlesex Regiment on parade, and portraits of the Blumfeld's. Some modern captions give 1917 as the probable date, but the regiment left India in 1916. Part of the collection found on L3-9-075-69-B. Process = Gelatine silver prints. Photographers = Unknown.,;.
