Gilbert Saltonstall, the elder, of Bookes, co. Yorks., gent., and his son, Samuel Saltonstall, gent., to Thomas Crompton, of London, esq.
The rectory of Arksey, which had been granted by letters patent of 25 June 1590 to Gilbert Saltonstall the elder, Samuel Saltonstall, and Gilbert Saltonstall son of Samuel, viz. to Gilbert senior for term of his life, and then a remainder to Gilbert the younger for term of his life, at an annual rent of £6 13s. 4d.
Gilbert Saltonstall the elder was in arrears for £15 at Michaelmas 1593, contrary to a covenant in the letters patent that if the rent is in arrears for 40 days, the letters patent shall be void.
