Although Farndish has always been in the County of Bedford, the administrative history of the parish is somewhat complicated. Being near the County boundary with Northamptonshire, Farndish became part of the Wellingborough Poor Law Union in 1834, and later came under the Rural Sanitary Authority for the same area. The parish was annexed to Podington for civil purposes by an order of the Local Government Board (No. 16, 417) dated 24th March 1884. Ten years later when the new Rural District Councils were established, the parishes of Podington (including Farndish) and Wymington were transferred to Bedford Rural District in 1894.
For ecclesiastical purposes, Farndish remained a separate parish until 1970. The church was closed on 27th March 1966, and the parish was united with Podington by Order in Council in 1970. The Church was declared redundant and vested in the Redundant Churches Fund by order in Council of 10th October 1974, and it is now used only for occasional services, the first after the restoration of the building having taken place on 31st August 1975.
