Joseph Pocklington (1736-1817) lived at Barrow House, Keswick, and was the owner of Derwent Isle which became known as Pocklington's island. He died unmarried and Barrow House eventually came to his great-nephew Joseph Pocklington (1804-1874) who married in 1835 Elizabeth Senhouse (1805-1890) and assumed that surname in 1842.
