A temporary church in Minehead Ave. and Ormskirk Ave. was granted a temporary licence for Divine Service on 19 March 1932.
The District of St Christopher, Withington, was assigned from the parishes of St Paul, Withington, and Christ Church, Barlow Moor Road, Didsbury, by Order in Council, 8 August 1932, (London Gazette, 12 August 1932).
A licence for marriages was granted on 29 June 1933.
The cornerstone of the new church in Moorgate Ave. was laid in March 1935 and the church consecrated on 14 December 1935.
