Description

This collection consists of records of estate management of the property of the Earls Howe in Suffolk, London, Kent, Warwickshire, Worcestershire, Cheshire and Nottinghamshire. There are also estate and private account books and vouchers.

In addition there are two more collections. One of these, DE620, consists of more local records and includes deeds and financial records of the Howe property in Gopsall, Twycross, Ibstock, Staunton Harold and Hugglescote. The other, DE3541 is a single volume folio, which contains transcripts of deeds and descriptions of the estates of the Earls Howe.

Immediate source of acquisition

They came from the office of Messrs. Thynne and Thynne, Victoria St., London and relate to the management of the various estates of Earl Howe formerly of Gopsall Hall (now demolished), Leicestershire.
