Description

St Peter's church was designed by James Brooks, architect, and erected in 1885. The parish was formed in 1890 from that of St Mary Magdalen's and enlarged from the parish of St Paul's in 1910. A single incumbent was instituted to the parishes of St Peter and St Paul in 1960 and a new parish of St Peter and St Paul created in 1964, the year in which the church of St Paul was demolished.
