Description

(a) Bernard Chatfeild of Steyning, clerk; (b) William Smith of Steyning, mercer; (c) Mary Chatfeild, dau. of (a).

(a) covenants with (b) to stand possessed of the following property upon trust for John Mordant of Steyning, gent., with remainder to (c), and after her decease with remainder to their children, or, for want of issue, to the right heirs of (c):-

Tenement, barn, garden, backside and lands called Bushgarden, in occ. of John Capon; 3a. new marsh land abutting S. on the new river, N. on highway to Worthing; pasture croft called the Butlers (1½a.); parcel of land (3a.) abutting S. on Grasemans Field, N. on new field lands; 2a. arable land in Newfeild, abutting E. on lands of Thomas Woolvyn, W. on land late Wheeler's; ½a. arable land in Newfeild abutting E. and W. on lands of Graseman's; ½a. arable land in the Barrowhole abutting W. on lands late of Graseman, E. on lands of John Streater; ½a. arable land in the Hurst, abutting N. on lands late of Grasman [sic], S. on lands of 'one Quinby'; 1a.in the Hurst, abutting S. on the bank, W. on lands late of John Streater; three parcels of land in the Shortbutts abutting W. on Blackmans Field; ten 'paules' of arable land at the Streete; three cow leazes in the Common Ham. All in Lancing and in occ. of John Capon.
