Description (What the record is about)
-
Incomplete series of small leather-bound pocket diaries kept by Samuel Whitbread I. Some pages have been removed, and parts have been cut out from many pages that remain. The original numbering sequence has been retained, and so there are gaps in the series for "missing" volumes. A note in vol.1 records the destruction on some of the diaries, and another in vol.3 gives an instruction that the volume should be burnt on the writer's death. Although uninformative, the volumes are useful in showing that no further diary evidence exists.
