Description (What the record is about)

The 1925 Rating and Valuation Act abolished the rate collection and valuation functions of the Guardians and Overseers of the Poor, and transferred them to Assessment Committees.
After 1927 the poor rate was included in the district general rate levied by the Urban District Council until 1929 when the Guardians and Overseers of the Poor were abolished and their functions transferred to the County Council.
