Draft letter. Swire to the Bishop of Hereford, 14th March, 1911.

He has heard from Mr. Seddon that their proposition is absurd, and that he has written to the Bishop to say so "He says that the third portionist to hand over the whole of the third portion of Pontesbury to the first and second portion for the sum of £54 10s. per annum and to retain the rest of the third portion money and the whole of the Longden money, only to have Longden, with a small portion of the second portion and no responsibilities such as school and church to look after". In the first place they are retaining a good bit of the third portion themselves, and are taking over half of the second portion, not a small portion as Mr. Seddon states, and are asking no money grant from him for doing so, simply putting the land on this side the railway against that on the other. The amount offered for services at Asterley is what Seddon said he could get it taken for. ... "I feel that something ought to be done for the sake of the people living there, and I honestly think that our proposition is a perfectly fair one".
