Cyril Prescott, a former RAF squadron leader and marine insurer, retired to Scarborough in 1962. His interest in music hall and theatre led him to a search of Scarborough's newspaper archives and from this developed his index relating to the town in the period 1847 to 1973. This index, with the other items, was presented to Scarborough Library in 1987.
