Title (The name of the record)
- Letter from Edmund [Grindal], Bishop of London, Fulham, to William More. He is sending the 'examinations' [not present] of Simon Penbroke whose 'doings seem to tend to conjuration by casting of figures telling of things lost, hid or stolen and such like'. Grindal has been instructed to stamp out such unlawful practices and also 'lewd assemblies' where 'perilous doctrine' is taught and asks More to examine those with whom Penbroke has associated. He should also examine those likely to know of 'any unlawful meetings or assemblies of Anabaptists' which have arisen since the Ecclesiastical Commissioners took action against David Oran [?Oreb] about 4 years ago.
