Farrukh Siyyar receiving Husain 'Ali Khan (d.1720). Mughal, c.1712-19. Richard Johnson Collection. Purchased 1807. Inscribed below in Persian: 'farrukh siyyar padshah ma'a vazir husain 'ali khan' (the emperor Farrukh Siyyar with 'vazir' Husain Ali Khan); numbered 21 in Persian inventory note; priced on reverse in 'raqam': 20(?) rupees. Gouache with gold; on an album page with floral border in two tones of gold. 338 by 207 mm; page 389 by 250 mm. The emperor is enthroned on a garden terrace under a canopy. Husain 'Ali Khan stands before him holding an inscribed paper; a courtier is on the left with a 'chauri.'. 'Note:' Husain 'Ali Khan was 'Amir al-Umra under Farrukh Siyyar, the office of 'vazir' being held by his brother 'Abdullah Khan.
