Description (What the record is about)
-
In 1920 the Education Departmental Committee was formed to deal with education; two years later it was granted a sub-committee to be concerned with book supply and religious education. In 1925 the name of the department was changed from Education to Religious Education and Literature. A new Education Department was created in 1974 by bringing together the work previously done by the two departments of Religious Education and Speakers. It existed until 1994 when the Prayer and Spirituality Unit was made responsible for the bulk of its work. The records in this series relate to the post 1974 Education Department.
