Lunatic asylum
Resolved unanimously to establish lunatic asylum in county to provide for number of lunatics, not to exceed seventy. Also resolved "with the view of extending the benefits of such an asylum to Lunatics of a Higher Class who are not objects of the Poor Rate" to continue the voluntary contribution already in existence. Committee of 9 Visiting Justices appointed to superintend building and management of the asylum as follows:- John Colman Rashleigh, Francis Glanville, Francis Hearle Rodd, Edmund John Glynn, John Gould, jun., and Edward William Stackhouse, esqs., Robert Walker, Edmund Gilbert, and Joseph Pomery, clerks. Committee of 5 J.P.s appointed to confer with committee of subscribers for benefit of "Higher Class" lunatics, as follows:- John Gould, jun., Edward William Stackhouse, Francis Hearle Rodd and Edmund John Glynn, esqs. and Robert Walker, clerk. Chairman requested to tell Lord Warden of the Stannaries of the court's appreciation of the fact that R.H. the Prince Regent had agreed to be patron of the intended asylum.
