Mid Wiltshire Management Committee and Dependent Hospitals

The group of records includes those of the H.M.C. itself and all its dependent hospitals, mostly cottage, isolation or maternity, some of whose records date from the 19th century. They have been catalogued here for convenience, and include:-

The Committee ceased to exist in 1974, when the wiltshire Area Health Authority was created.

This Committee was formed in 1948 upon the establishment of the National Health Service, taking over its hospitals from Joint Local Authorities, Public Assistance Committees and private hospital boards of management.
