Administrative / biographical background

From 1 April 1974 the Petty Sessions Divisions of South Lonsdale, Hornby, Morecambe and Lancaster were united to form the Lancaster Petty Session Division. Sessions are still held at Morecambe (see PSL 2 below) but it is intended to close this court house in 1984, and all sessions be held in Lancaster. For records prior to 1974 see the separate South Lonsdale (PSLS) and Hornby (PSHo) divisions up to 1955, the joint South Lonsdale and Hornby division (PSLH) from 1955, Morecambe (PSMo) and Lancaster (PSLa)
