Ts memoir (24pp) written as a prewar Territorial Army subaltern in the Lincolnshire Yeomanry, covering his training in the United Kingdom, the shelling of their troopship MERCIAN by a U-Boat on 3 November 1915 during the voyage out to Salonika, their employment on garrison duty in Western Egypt during 1916 in case of a Senussi uprising, his transfer in early 1917 to the 18th Squadron Machine Gun Corps with whom he took part in the two unsuccessful Battles of Gaza and in the advance into Palestine as far as the Mountains of Judea, where he contracted jaundice.
