Photographs belonging to depositor's husband, Martin Martins (formerly Schmalz) and his sister Kathe, who were born in Gnesen in the district of Pasen, Poland in 1908 and 1905 respectively. For Martin's life history see deposit nos. 1412 and 1443, also tape no. J293. Kathe went to Berlin before the rest of her family. She had several distinct careers - trained as an assistant in a bookshop; shorthand and typing; then nursing and midwife in Germany and later in Palestine. She married three times and through her third husband became interested in yoga. They returned to Baden-baden where, as Kathe Beutler, she became a renowned yoga teacher, visited by film stars etc., and featured on records and cassettes.
