Mr. Shemsher Singh Bhakar, an early migrant, who came to Britain in 1949. Resident of Manchester since 1949. Mr. Bhakar has participated in various occupations, such as pedlar, factory worker, and dock worker, but is more preminently renowned for his wrestling ability. A tri-generational occupation in which he has won the family admiration both in India and Britain.
Mr. Bhakar was born in Calcutta, India in 1929. His father's name was Mr. Khazan Singh Bhakar. He had five sons. Mr. Shemsher Singh Bhakar was the fourth in the family. Learned wrestling 'free style' from his elder brother Ajit Singh (Daljit Rao).
