Title

Lymm Estates of Unilever Ltd

Date

Description

Title deeds and related papers of estates in Lymm and Oughtrington purchased by Lever Brothers Ltd.

The records were found divided into three parts, viz., deeds relating to the Oughtrington Estate (Old Ref. 1A-XXXXI, DUL 1-43); deeds relating to the Beechwood Estate in Lymm (old Ref. BI-BXXI, DUL 44-66); and deeds relating mainly to the management of these estates after 1862, in which year, the bulk of the estates were purchased by George C. Dewhurst (Old Ref. A-X, DUL 67-98). Within these three divisions, the following bundles were found missing : in the Oughtrington Estate sequence, bundles XX, XXIII, XXV, XXVIII-XXX, XXXIII, XXXV, XXXVII, IXXXX, and XXXX; in the Beechwood Estate sequence, bundle BIXX; in the third sequence, bundles A,B,G,K and W. It is probable that the unnumbered bundles and also the deeds found loose (DUL 99-105) will, in part, fill these gaps in the sequences. In the list below, old bundle references are given in square brackets.
