The Executive Committee first met in April 1934 to 'supervise the financial working of the G.B.I. in all the Branches within the policy laid down by the Board from time to time; to pass resolutions authorising the sealing of documents so long as these relate to policy or transactions approved by the Board; to carry out the executive work of the Board within the policy laid down; it being understood that the power to enter into new financial commitments of over 250 pounds or to found new Annuities is reserved to the Board.' The Committee adopted many of the responsibilities of the Finance Committee which ceased to exist from 1934. The Executive Committee met monthly until September 1939 when the Board decided to suspended it in response to imminent War.
