Copy attested 28 May 1832
Copy will and probate of Edward Edwards, late of Carreghofa, Llanymynech, gent, decd [called 'farmer' in probate certificate]
Probate granted 28 May 1817
Recital that Edward Edwards by appointment of equal date herewith, reciting the release of 17 May 1780 being the settlement before his marriage to Elizabeth, one of the daughters of John Duckett, gent, since decd., by powers in the same, appointed £500 provided by the said indenture for portions of his younger children by Eliz. to be paid within 12 months after Edward Edwards' death between his younger children:- £10 to his daughter Catherine, wife of Thomas Evans; £10 to his daughter Elizabeth, wife of William Shuker; £10 to his daughter Mary wife of Thomas Plimley; and to his daughter Sarah £470, the remainder of the £500.
On the marriage of his daughter Elizabeth with Wm Shuker and on the marriage of his daughter Mary to Thomas Plimley he gave a suitable marriage portion with each, which, with the £10 thereby appointed to be paid to each of them, he meant to be in lieu of each of those shares of £500.
To his friends John Duckett of Felton, Salop and John Asterley of Pentre, Llanymynech, Denbigh, gents, £600 to be paid to them by his executors within 12 months of his death, on trusts to be laid out at interest, paying the interest or dividends to his daughter Catherine for life, for her sole use; at her death to call up the £600 and pay it to his grandson, Thomas Evans, son of his daughter Catherine, if he is 21, if not, he is to receive the profits until he is 21. If he dies under 21, unmarried, then to pay the £600 to the testator's son Edward Edwards.
To his daughter Sarah £530 to be paid 12 months after his death in addition to £470, the part of £500 to be paid to her.
As for his houses and lands, subject to his debts, legacies and funeral and testamentary expenses, considering his wife amply provided for by their marriage settlement, he gives them to his son Edward Edwards and his heirs forever.
Executors: son Edward and friend John Broughton of Llanymynech, grocer.
Wintesses: Jane Broughton, Edward Poole, John Broughton jnr.
