Orders made at the General Sessions of the Peace at Canterbury Castle, 22nd July, 1600
1 Controversies between Thomas Skilton of Chartham, carpenter, and his servants referred to George Waller, esq.
2 Peter Hamon bound over to the next session to answer to the striking of his master, and his master bound over to inform against him.
3 Parishioners of Ickham to settle Avys Astyn, widow, in some abiding place in their parish where she may the better provide for her living.
4 David Gybbes of Waltham, husbandman, to be committed to the house of correction for disobeying Master Nayler, his master.
5 William Brooke of Boughton Blean to have the arrears of his pension of 1s. a week paid by the Treasurer, and then the pension to cease.
6 Thomas Palmer to send for the churchwardens and overseers of Ickham and command them to pay to him 25s. according to a former order made at the last general session at Canterbury and on refusal to bind them over to answer for it at the next general session to be held at Canterbury.
7 The matter between Arnold Savadge and James Newman to be referred to Mr. Hadd.
8 The parishioners of Wingham to be discharged of the indictment of allowing a rogue to escape because the offence is not laid to the constable nor is it known who was then constable there.
9 The gaol money from Michaelmas, 1593, henceforth, to be answered by the churchwardens of every parish within the east part of Kent and the statute to be executed upon such churchwardens as default of payment, and for levying the arrears [?] incurred before Michaelmas, 1597, the justices in their several limits shall at their discretion order the levying of the same or so much thereof as they shall think right.
10 John Nethersole confessed to the indictment of a riot which he had previously traversed. Fined 2s.
11 The inhabitants of Saltwood to be discharged of the indictment concerning the part of the highway in that parish as they have made affidavit that the same is repaired.
12 As the parish of Hernehill in the hundred of Boughton has complained that they are unable to relieve their poor and that there are no justices of the peace in that hundred to order which other parish or parishes should help them, ordered that the two next justices of the peace to that hundred shall consider which parish.
