The St. John's Lodge No. 70 was established in 1759 and was held in His Majesty's Third Regiment of Foot at Castle Inn, Castle Street, Exeter, Devon. In 1828 the lodge left Exeter and met at the York Inn, High Street, East Stonehouse, Devon. In the same the year the lodge moved again, leaving East Stonehouse for Plymouth, Devon and meeting at the Commercial Hotel in Old Town Street. The lodge now meets at Manadon Masonic Hall, Smallack Drive, Crownhill, Plymouth. The lodge was first named St. John's Lodge in 1807 but in 1828 it was renamed the St. John the Baptist Lodge. The lodge name was changed back to St. John's Lodge in 1858.
