Concerns: playing whisk with Lady Lincoln and the ladies; the colonel's wish to see Lord Hartington about a job to do with the house that was Arundel's; Lady H to come up to town; Newmarket to break up shortly; suggesting Lord Hartington rides by Oxford to Bath and then riding on with Lady Hartington to meet in London; advising waiting another week in Bath because smallpox is about from the great number that have been 'inaculated' [inoculated]; the House [of Commons] being full and a strong opposition against naturalisation. Written from London. Signed 'Devonshire'.
