1. The Bailiffs, burgesses and commonalty of Salop.
William Jones, William Hear(inge) and Richard Gardner, drapers.
Jones and the others agree that before the Christmas next they will build next a spring or pool of water called Broadwalle in the liberties of Salop now called the conduit head of Salop, one house of lime or stone of masons works, covered with good "branned" tile or slate, 12 feet long and 9 feet broad, 6 foot high from ground to roof, to keep the water there descending from all the several springs there. For the purpose agreed upon and set down in writing and planned under the hand of Richard Gardner and now in the exchequer of the town, two springs set down in the plan on the west side of the pool excepted.
They agree also to fill up with earth the "poole place" where the great pool or springs now are, to make firm and dry land.
All works to take effect within 2 years.
They agree to repair the pipes leading from this conduit head to the cisterns in the town, under the guidance of a workman judged fit by the bailiffs.
The Bailiffs have paid £30 to Jones, Hearinge and Gardner.
When the work has been finished, and accounts presented, the Bailiffs will pay any overplus in addition to this £30.
