Description (What the record is about)
-
Letters from Matthew Boulton to James Watt from 1777. These are the earliest letters from Boulton to Watt in the collection. At some point, probably before the letters were transferred into the Watt Room at Soho Foundry, the bundle was split up, and some of the letters show signs of having been displayed for long periods of time. Henry Hazleton summarised some, but not all, of the letters in the 1890s, and his summaries have been transcribed.
For a further letter from Boulton to Watt from 1777, dated 30 April, see Logan Henderson's letter to Watt of that date in 3/254/6.
