Daniel Chatterton was to be admitted to the freedom paying twenty pounds within a month.
William Stonehewer was likewise admitted.
William Earl, staymaker, was likewise admitted.
Upon reading the petition of Robert Bradbury praying that his yearly rent of £20 as tenant to the City for a house at the north end of the Exchange might be moderated, it was ordered that a committee of six aldermen view the same and that the rent from the end of the current year be as any four think reasonable and report to Assembly.
Upon reading the petition of Richard Richardson, Alderman, for a lease for thirty years of the old quay near Parkgate belonging to the City which was in ruinous condition, to repair the same for shipping of coals, an order was made for viewing and reporting.
Upon reading the petition by the same for a lease for thirty years of ground granted to the proprietors of the Navigation of the River Dee, about 20 yards broad, (ZA/B/4/183) for landing coals and making a coal yard, an order was made for viewing and reporting.
William Warmingham was chosen one of Mr. Vernon's almsmen in place of John Bedward, deceased.
It was ordered that those who had not served as Sheriff and the Sheriffs on the major part be a committee and within a month consider whether each of them might subscribe five guineas apiece or other sum or whether the City should advance money to raise a stock for buying furniture for the appartments in the Castle for the Assize Judges for the county of Chester.
The Northgate Gaol was to be inspected by the Treasurers and be repaired where really needful.
It was ordered that any shares of the City in the scheme for raising £6,000 by annuities not exceeding ten shares might be granted by the City (at the expense of the purchasers) within a month for £50 per share to be paid to the Senior Treasurer to discharge the interest due at next Christmas to the annuitants and to retain any residue in his hands.
The Mayor, Recorder, Aldermen and Treasurers or any six were to be a committee to consider and report on the state of the Corporation's yearly income, expenses and debts and to direct what portion of the City's rents be set aside to meet the annuities due next Christmas (ZA/B/4/183v) and who should keep the accounts of annuities and what he should receive for it.
Unless Mr. George Griffith, mercer, (who was ordered to be admitted to the freedom at the last Assembly upon paying £50 within one month and had refused to accept) took his freedom up, on receiving this order, it was to be treated as contempt, he would be excluded and liable to prosecution for exercising his business in the City not being free.
The road leading from the Maypole to Mollington Bridge within the City liberties was to be viewed by Aldermen Ellames and Treasurer Hesketh and repaired where needful.
