Description

Collection in three parts (Photo 445/1-3), containing photographs relating to the career in India of Sir Walter Campbell. Lieutenant-Colonel Sir Walter Fendall Campbell (1894-1973) entered the Indian Army in 1914, was seconded to the Civil Administration in Iraq from 1919-20 and joined the Indian Political Department in 1921, holding various posts in districts and agencies in Baluchistan and the NWFP from 1921-33. He later served as Prime Minister, Alwar, 1935-36, Political Agent, Bundelkhand, 1937, Resident in Waziristan, 1939-40, Resident for Central India, 1942-46 and Resident, Mysore, 1946-47.
