Description

The Deanery, Pontesbury Salop.

Richard T. Seddon to Swire.

He is afraid Swire did not carefully read his last proposal which was a follows - first and second portion to consist of what he is now taking by arrangement with Furley which they are both agreed is a perfectly fair arrangement, with the following re-arrangements 1. The first and second portion to take all the duties and responsibilities of the Parish Church of Pontesbury.

2. The third portion the whole of the visitation of Longden.

3. The first and second portion to take back Plealey and ? in addition without further remuneration. This would make it easier for third portion who could make his own arrangements for Cruckton, and if he could get the squires of Longden and Cruckton to help in building a Rectory at Longden and a curate's house at Cruckton, so much the better for the living.

He has done this at Bosbury, raising £2,000 for the purpose and has also practically rebuilt the vicarage of Evesbalch Chelmarsh, and has now spent £250 of his own money out of the £650 now spent by ? the Deanery. He thinks it would be better to leave the whole arrangement as it is, except the first and second portions should take the whole of the responsibilities of the Parish Church, and the third portion the whole of the visitation of Longden, for two reasons.

1. That Furley would not live at Longden.

2. That some still better arrangement might be made in the future with regard to Lea Cross, which as long as Miss Hawkes is alive probably cannot be done.
