Description

As follows :

Settlement certificate (Barton to Little Broughton) for James Graham otherwise Grimes and Ann his wife and James their son (otherwise Grimes); duly signed and countersigned, 1753

Agreement by nine men of High Barton to divide the tithes and rates between them henceforth, now rented of E W Hasell Esq.; dividing them "according to the number of Tythable Acres" each has; payable on the last Saturday in June at 6 p.m. "and the last Saturday in the old year "at 4 p.m. precisely at Barton School, n.d. [1800]

List of the Inhabitants of High Barton Township showing the number of windows, horses for riding, horses for farm-work, each had, and tax on same; also horses exempt, and tax each paid for dogs; farms not named; at foot, further details of the taxes (carthorse, saddle horse, Land Tax, etc.); "1799 and 1800"

List of Benefactors to Barton School in the 18th century, beginning with William Sisson of Parkfoot Esq. in 1725; states that with these three benefactions the estate called "Fourlainend" was bought for the School's endowment, n.d. [late 18th c.]

The other two benefactors here named were Robert Nicholson of "Wholehouse" [Hole House], yeo., and David Harrison of Penrith.
