Description

This collection consists of papers created and collected by Harry Earnshaw when on delegations to Italy, Australia and New Zealand, USSR, China, Japan, Malaya and Burma. The delegations were all related to his Labour activities, and specifically on the developing of trade relationships, surveying labour conditions, productivity and economics. Included are delegation reports by Earnshaw, diaries of his visits, programmes and notes re the visits, newspaper clippings of his visits, some correspondence re the visits, draft speeches and surveys. Series 6 is missing from the collection.

Administrative / biographical background

Harry Earnshaw (fl 1946-1963) was a British Labour Party Leader, chairman of the Annual Conference of the Labour Party 1951-1952, President of the Northern Counties Textiles Trade Federation, Justice of the Peace and OBE.
