Description (What the record is about)
-
This register of the magistrates' court of summary jurisdiction for the Borough of Glossop is probably the second in the series of the court's registers. The Borough was founded in December 1866 but the first register is missing. Until at least 1855 Glossop was within the jurisdiction of the High Peak magistrates.
Glossop Borough's area of jurisdiction included Dinting, Hadfield, Padfield, Simmondley and Whitfield.
This volume was transferred from Glossop Library under Section 4(1) of the Public Records Act 1958 in February 1993.
