Although little detailed investigation of the Taylor records has been carried out, most of the records are letters from customers and clients. There is also one legal document, the articles of partnership of Taylor Campbell & Bowden from 1808, and a bundle of papers concerning the shipping of items such as pimentoes.

The records listed here are business records of the London merchant Joseph Taylor and the partnership of Taylor Campbell & Bowden, which was formed in 1808. Taylor had trading links with the London banking house M. R. Boulton J. Watt & Co., and he traded in Europe and the West Indies. Taylor was also a wine merchant, and had connections with John Woodward.
