Description

(Sewn together - one item) 1. Charles Marsh Adams of Shrewsbury Esquire, Edward Haycock of the same place architect and Thomas Baker late of Shrewsbury but now of the Rock near Newtown in the County of Montgomery merchant 2. James Oliver of Spring Hill near Wellington Esquire. 3. Owen Thomas of Cause Castle gentleman. 4. John Phillips of Winsley Hall Salop, Esquire 5. Edward Blakeway Tipton of Shrewsbury, gentleman.

Lease and release.

Recited indentures:-

1 & 2 November 1838 279/94

Owen Thomas has contracted with John Phillips for the absolute sale of the manor of Cause etc.

Consideration £15,000

Adams, Haycock and Baker acknowledge the sum of £10,000 paid them by Phillips at the request of Owen Thomas and £2,000 to James Oliver and they acquit Owen Thomas and John Phillips of the sum of £12,000

Manor of Cause and Cause Castle Farm 440 acres 1 rood 15 perches as specified in the schedule. To the use of John Phillips and to the use of Edward Blakeway Tipton, and John Phillips declares that no wife of his shall be entitled to dower out of the property.

Witnesses:- George Griffiths of Newtown, Charles Mathews Clerk to Mr. How solicitor Shrewsbury, Llew: Storey clerk to Mr. How, R. Clarkes, clerk to Mr. Teece solicitor Shrewsbury. Endorsed receipts for the sums of £10,000, £2,000 and £3,000.
