Consists of:

1 Grant by Reginald Fitz Joscelin, Bishop of Bath, to the Hospital of St. John the Baptist at Bath of a field on the west side outside the walls to the old ditch in frankalmoin. Witnesses: William, Abbot of Kainesh[am]; Walter, Prior of Bath; Master Alexander, Dean of Wells; Master Robert de Geldef[ord], Archdeacon of Bath; Master Roger, medicus; Hugh, clericus; Roger, son of Renifr'; David, capellanus; Richard de Ford, and many others. c.1189-91. Parchment. 18 x 7 cms. Seal tag (seal missing). Endorsed by William Griffith and copied by him in 931/38.

2 Confirmation by the same of a gift by Roger son of Algar to the Hospital of St. John the Baptist of land given to him by Robert, Bishop of Bath [1136-66], excepting seven and a half pence of landgavel payable annually. Witnesses: Master Ralph de Lechlade [Lichel], Archdeacon of Bath; Walter, heir of Buckland; Jocelin, capellanus; Walter, capellanus; Geoffrey, clericus; Hugh, clericus. c.1186. Parchment. 14 x 9 cms. Seal tag (seal missing). Endorsed by Griffith and copied by him in 931/38.

3 Grant (indenture) by Robert de Bosco to Stephen de Wendene, Alice his wife, and their heirs, of one messuage and half a virgate in the vill of Esse Bosons [in Stourpaine] more fully described in the chief charter of Matthew Loffe, nine shillings annual rent, and one pound of pepper with the reversion of a messuage and 15 acres in the said vill and pasture for one horse, two animals, 50 sheep, and a pig (the land and messuage being held of the grantor by Thomas le Smale for life). Also a messuage and half a virgate in the said vill and pasture formerly belonging to Roger de Candenere; two acres of arable land formerly belonging to Robert le Riche; a house and acre of land formerly belonging to Walter Warde in the vill of Lacerton [Lazerton]; a messuage in the vill of Iwerne Steepleton [Viverne Stipelton] formerly belonging to Henry Mangecrede; two acres of arable in the same vill with pasture for two horses formerly belonging to Thomas de la Haule. All which lands were of the gift of Stephen de Wendene. With remainer to Richard de Wendene, son of Christina Polayn and his heirs, reversion to Dms. Bartholomew Payn, knight, and his heirs. To be held of the chief lords of the fee by services due and accustomed. Warranty by Robert de Bosco and his heirs. Stephen gave £40. Witnesses. Helton, 8 July 1323. Seal. Endorsed by Griffith.

4 Charter of Reginald, Bishop of Bath, to the church of St. Peter, Bath, granting the pensions previously enjoyed from the following churches and chapels: 30 shillings from the chapel in the cemetery of St. Peter for the use of the sacristan, four shillings from the chapel of St. James for the sick and half a mark from the chapel of Walcot [Walecote], one mark from the church of Eston, half a mark from the chapel of Wika, half a mark from the chapel of North Stoke [Nordestoch], half a mark from the church of Niveton in the gift of Simon de Sancto Laudo, four shillings from the church of Corston, eight shillings from the church of Stanton, half a mark from a virgate of land in Evercreech [Evercriz], five shillings from a virgate of land in Cheddar [Ceddr'], a mark from the church of Stokes by Westberiam of the gift of Roger Witenges. Witnesses: Master Alexander, Dean of Wells; Master Robert de Geldef[ord]; Master Godfrey, Archdeacon of Bath; Master Ralph de Lechlade [Lichel]; Roger de Bona Villa; Roger de Sunundesb[ury]; Hugh of Wells, clericus, and many others. c.1189-91. 5 Grant by Savaric, Bishop of Bath, confirming the gift to the Hospital by his predecessor Reginald of a sheaf of corn annually from each acre of the demesne lands in the bishopric, and similarly of the Prior and Convent of Bath, and tithes of bread, cheese, and malt. Witnesses: Richard, Abbot of Muchelney; Peter de Lambervill; Master Alan; Master Robert de Castelford; Master Ernaldus of Bath; Ernaldus, clericus; Henry Hanlac; Gilbert and Clement, brothers; Robert le prestre; Kinefald; Humphrey Mansel, and many others. c.1194. 6 Grant by Robert de Wandene to John de Knynghteton, son of Henry de Knynghteton and Margaret his wife of an annual rent of twenty shillings from lands and tenements in Asshelvson [in Stourpaine] at the Feast of the Purification and at Pentecost with right of distraint. Sealed with the seal of the office of the deanery of Whitechurch at the grantor's request. Witnesses: Henry Auntivche; Henry de Knyghteton; Stephen Baret; Roger Glideford; Richard de Knyghteton and others. Durewenston, 25 July 1344.

7 Confirmation by Edward son and heir of Bartholomew Payn of an indenture between Richard Conk and Henry his son made at Stourpaine on 3 January 1371 concerning lands in the vill of Assche Bozon in the parish of Stourpaine for rent of 2s.8d. annually. Stourpaine, 18 January 1371. Parchment. 27 x 21 cms. Seal pendant. Endorsed by Griffith.

8 Grant by Edward Cernyngton esquire, son and heir of David Cernyngton, to John Dalamare, son of James Dalamare, of a messuage in Whatley, Somerset, which David has of the gift of James to hold to the said John and his heirs of the chief lords of the fee by due and accustomed service, with remainder to Johanna, wife of John Mayde and sister of John, reversion to the heirs of James and then to the heirs of Edward. Witnesses: William Paulet esquire; Thomas Grace; Philip Mille; John Samelt; John Ayssheton, and many others. 3 July 1482. Parchment. 16 x 33 cms. Seal pendant. Endorsed by Griffith.

VI [18 October 1440] the Lord granted to John Toogood and his heirs 22 acres, parcel of the land late in the farm (firma) of Robert Neweman at Westley Ebony [?] and le Crookhold in Thurston to hold 'native per virgam' at the will of the Lord by yearly service and rents of six shillings and suit of court.
