The Federation was founded in 1966 and covered the counties of Cambridgeshire, Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk. Its aims were to promote and encourage high standards of architecture and town and country planning; public interest in the appearance, history and character of the towns, villages and countryside; preservation, development and improvement of features of general public amenity and of historic interest.
