Description (What the record is about)
-
Black full diced leather bound album measuring 318x346mm, with gold border and a brass plaque in the form of the Curzon coat of arms set into the front cover. With decorative endpapers and an illuminated titlepage reading 'Presented by the Ladies of Moulmein to Her Excellency Lady Curzon'. The photographers' label, reading 'Watts & Skeen, Photographers' is pasted onto the back endpaper and although the great majority of the photographs are by Watts & Skeen, a few appear to be the work of P.A. Klier (see, for instance, prints 17 and 20, which are signed in the negative by Klier, although his name has been painted out on these prints). The prints are captioned in a neat cursive hand beneath each picture, although a few are also captioned in the negative. The album contains a general selection of topographical, architectural and ethnographical views, concentrating mainly on the Moulmein and Rangoon areas, but with some material from around Bhamo.
