Description (What the record is about)

Lithographed map sheet dated 1857 with manuscript additions, mostly detailing military positions, dated 1860; many of these additions have been drawn on to paper and pasted on to the lithographed sheet. Portrays hydrology, relief by hachures and rock drawing, settlements, distances between significant settlements, place names, administrative boundaries and military dispositions. The lithographed sheet bears the printed note 'Lith: By H.M. Smith, Surveyor General's Office ... 1857' and carries the lithographed signature of Major H.[E.]L. Thuillier, Deputy Surveyor General of India, 1857. A copy of the original 1857 sheet is filed at Maps 1.c.42.
