The Association was founded in 1896 as the Manchester and District Ironfounders' Employers Association. In 1963 having suffered a great reduction in numbers over the years it was amalgamated with the Liverpool Ironfounders Association and took on more general regional title. Its membership was widened again in 1969 when it took over the West Riding Association. However, due to falling membership the North-Western Ironfounders' Employers Association was dissolved on 31st Dec. 1986.
