Drafts of account of experiments on the mathematical theory

The record is variously paginated by Cavendish as p2-p8, P1 A-P1 A2, P10 A9-A10, p29A-32A, p55-58, p61-66, p91-96, p103-108, p119-p126, p133-138, p141-142, p156-160, p161-163. Maxwell 1879 pxlii suggets that it contains drafts of sections of Cavendish's intended book (HY/1/7,HY/1/ 9, HY/1/10 and HY/1/8).

The record is enclosed in a covering page with a note written by William Snow Harris:

This is an Experimental Paper not published and of a most interesting character - the experiments all refer to the theory in No 1 & Mr Cavendishs general views and are very beautifully contrived, & using highly characteristic of Mr Cavendishs admirable experimental Tact. unfortunately many pages are missing e.g. Page 8 to P 55 are missing and again 58 to 61 also many [illegible] Pages marked [illegible] up to Page 10 A 10. Page 86 is the next page to 63 and appears to have been preceeded by a further [illegible] & announcement here as strike upon a new set of Experiments with coated Glass which appear also [illegible] Information sufficent in Mr Cavendishs then Papers arrived at all the current views & conclusion afterward announced by Coulomb and carried out the [illegible] by the French". There is also a note sideways on the left of the page "See No 9 [illegible] This is the same as Paper marked No 10 Part 2".
